Wind turbines reinvented!

Wind turbines the path to future energy solutions!
In order for wind turbines to be effective there are a few problems that would have to be overcome:

An ugly ass wind farm
1st: Windturbine syndrome.
Where the low frequency noise created by a wind turbine causes sleep deprivation amongst other problems for those in earshot.
Adrian Zacher has a great article on the topic: Beware wind turbines.
2nd: They are ugly!
Seriously who wants to drive down the road and look at those things? Although their have been some advancements in the technology that make them more appealing.
Mike has an article showing a few of those advancements: Future In A Flat Spin: Horizontal Wind Turbines
3rd: They need wind…
I don’t know of many places in the world that has constant non-stop wind. Does a place like that actually exist?
The answer is YES! There is a source of constant wind, and its in a place that wont be an eyesore; plus its far enough away that the low frequency sounds produced from the turbines wont be able to bother anybody. Where is this place? Just look up.
The answer is high altitude horizontal wind turbines. The Magenn Power company has developed M.A.R.S (Magenn Air Rotor System) a lighter-than-air tethered wind turbine. It rotates along its horizontal axis and sends the generated electricity down its tether where it can be connected to batteries, power grids, or electrical devices. The rotation of the turbine also creates what is called the “Magnus Effect” which provides extra lift and stability to the device. In other words as it generates power it creates an updraft of wind that stabilizes the device and helps prevent it from falling or moving around violently.
The devices are cheap and easy to maintain, plus they can be rapidly deployed in disaster areas to provide power to homes without the need for noisy generators.
Here is a video to help explain in greater detail the device and how it would function.
That’s incredible! Although I still don’t see why it matters what the heck the things look like. Electricity plants arn’t a pretty bit of senary to gaze at.
